Program Overview

Our Licensed Professional Barber Program (LBP) is designed to focus on each individual. Students experience the process each barber works through to achieve desired results efficiently. Students learn about the variety of disciplines within the industry. They get an understanding of hair and scalp treatments, shampoo and hairstyling, bacteriology, sanitation, safety, skin disorders, business management, history and barber regulations and law.

Program Objectives

LPB has the below specific objectives that each student must meet prior to final examination. After completing the program students will be able to:

  1. Understand State law, regulations and professional ethics.
  2. Paraphrase the history of the barbering profession
  3. Describe the components of Business and Shop Management
  4. Outline the proper procedures of client consultation
  5. Define and Outline Personal Hygiene
  6. Classify and describe all haircutting techniques
    1. Cutting hair with razors, clippers and shears
    2. Tapering the hair
    3. Thinning the hair
    4. Shampooing the hair
    5. Shaving
    6. Trimming facial hair
  7. Analyze skin or scalp conditions
  8. Understand all scalp treatment procedures
  9. Understand facial massage and treatment procedures
  10. Outline and comprehend sanitation and safety procedures
  11. Understand maintaining implements and equipment
